Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before playing Kakuru.
What is Kakuru?
Kakuru is a free daily Kakuro-style cross-sum number puzzle. You fill a grid so that each run of cells adds up to the clue given for that run, using each digit 1-9 at most once per run.
How do I play?
Each run of empty cells (a horizontal or vertical strip) has a clue number at its start. Fill the run with digits that sum to the clue, using no digit more than once within that run. Every puzzle has exactly one valid solution.
Is there a new puzzle every day?
Yes. A new puzzle is issued once per UTC day, and everyone who plays that day gets the same grid, so you can compare results with friends without spoiling the answer.
Is Kakuru free to play?
Yes. Kakuru is free, with no account, login, or purchase required to play.
Is my data private?
Kakuru has no accounts or logins. Your device generates its own anonymous id to track daily attempts, and nothing is tied to your name or email — see the privacy page for details.
